The July 16, 2026, flood in Kerrville was a devastating flash flood that struck the Texas Hill Country just one year after the historic July 2025 disaster. Torrential rainfall caused the Guadalupe River and nearby creeks to rise rapidly, flooding neighborhoods, businesses, roads, and public buildings throughout Kerr County. Although the flood caused widespread destruction—including damage to about 500 homes, roughly 100 businesses, 10 bridges, and the Kerr County courthouse—it resulted in far fewer fatalities than the previous year’s disaster. Officials attributed the lower death toll in part to improved public awareness, better emergency response, and the fact that the most intense rainfall occurred in different parts of the watershed than it had in 2025. Even so, the flood forced hundreds of rescues, displaced many families, and left the community facing another lengthy recovery while still rebuilding from the previous year’s losses.
